NOTES:
2008 vintage with a really dry, crumbly cork.
Pours a crisp, clean red-tinted amber with a small, large-bubbled off-white head.
Nose is sour, sharply tart and fruity with a rose-like floral underpinning.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Tart and dry with a slightly acidic finish.
Taste has some raspberry sweetness up front and then a solid blast of sharp tartness and sourness with similar floral notes to the nose and some sour grape flavors mixing in. A slight bitterness mixes in with the tart as it goes down.
Drinkability is decent for the style, but the level of tartness here makes it a sipper.
Overall this is a nice lambic and an enjoyable one to spend a few hours with. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites, as the acidic tartness is a little overpowering and I prefer a more balanced sourness. Since this was a recent bottling, I'm thinking this one might develop and balance out quite nicely with some more age on it. I'll have to see if I can find an older bottle someday.
