Samuel Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner

Samuel Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner

STYLE: American Double / Imperial Pilsner

ABV: 8.8%

SAMPLE DATE: Sunday, March 02, 2008

SERVING TYPE: 12oz Bottle

RATING: 3.65

(look: 4 | nose: 3.5 | mouth: 4 | taste: 3.5 | drink: 3.5)

NOTES:

Poured a hazy straw-orange, modest 1 finger white head. Nice amount of spiral lacing.

Nose is citrus and hoppy at first, more malty balance with some caramel and bready yeast as it sits.

Medium bodied. Medium carbonation.

Taste is primarily hops. Little bit of grass and pine. Hoppy bitterness lingers on the tongue a while with some alcohol bite. Dry finish.

Bottle says best before January 2008, but at 8.8% I doubt it's lost much in two more months on the shelf.

Overall not one of my favorites, but I'd like to try this after a long, hot late spring day.
